RESTORE RULE OF LAW

June 2 letter to Blaine City Councilman Don Enos:

Dear Councilman Enos,

Thank you for your June 2 reply to my May 29 letter to Blaine City Council regarding the 22 unenforced shoreline violations on Drayton Harbor, Dakota Creek, and Cain Creek. Perhaps you can ask City Manager Mike Harmon, on the record, why shoreline code enforcement is non-existent, leading to such egregious acts as the September 2025 Eagle Tree Massacre on Councilwoman Sarbjit Bains' property.

While you have him under oath at the city council meeting, you can also ask why Councilwoman Bains was allowed to vote on Ordinance 26-3043, the Interim Zoning Control Ordinance for the Central Business District, where Bains and her husband own numerous commercial properties. Bains' vote violates state law against self-dealing by public officials. Her unlawful vote invalidates the ordinance, and under the law she must forfeit her office immediately.

You can remedy this corruption by making a motion to censure Sarbjit Bains, and demand her resignation, at the next city council meeting on June 8. Otherwise, anyone who wants to sue the city for enabling self-dealing would have a slam dunk case with both Councilwoman Sarbjit Bains and former planning commissioner, Sam Randhawa, who made himself a cool $50 grand, plus or minus, on his UMU Rezone vote a year ago.

Commissioner Randhawa resigned in disgrace after being exposed as a crook, as did former Councilman Mike Hill. I expect Councilwoman Bains to follow suit. This matter is already being reviewed by the Washington State Auditor.

Best regards, Jay Taber
