Teaching Bigotry
When Simon Sefzik was appointed to fulfill the remainder of his predecessor's term in the Washington State Senate, he noted his recent graduation form Patrick Henry College in Virginia--a conservative Christian school. According to Wikipedia, Patrick Henry College was incorporated in 1998 by Michael Farris, current President of Alliance Defending Freedom and founder and chairman of the board of the Home School Legal Defense Association, with which PHC is still closely connected. Alliance Defending Freedom is an American conservative Christian legal advocacy group focused on blocking rights and protections for LGBTQ people; expanding Christian practices within public schools and in government; and preventing access to abortion and contraception. All students at Patrick Henry College must sign a Statement of Faith before they enroll, acknowledging all who die outside of Christ shall be confined in conscious torment for eternity.
