DOUBLE-DIPPING GREED
June 21 letter to Blaine City Council:
The March 9, 2026 gang rape of downtown Blaine by Blaine City Council--when the gang of seven gave away the Central Business District to developers--was preceded in 2023 when the Downtown Advisory Committee, appointed by City Hall, voted to loosen code restrictions on downtown developers. Leading the committee in its revamping of the Blaine Municipal Code was downtown developer Gurdeep Bains, husband of Councilwoman Sarbjit Bains. Sarbjit, in turn, engaged in self-dealing as well when voting to pass Ordinance 26-3043.
The June 8, 2026 approval by you of the Permit Process and SEPA Zoning Text Amendments to further consolidate control of city planning in the hands of the city development director and hearing examiner completes the three-year process under city manager Mike Harmon to eliminate public participation in planning Blaine's future.
The Eagle Tree Massacre on the Drayton Harbor shoreline, on property owned by Gurdeep and Sarbjit Bains, has apparently yet to be investigated by Blaine Code Enforcement, despite it occurring in September 2025. The double standards and hypocrisy of city leaders enriching themselves at our expense might not bother you in this moment of double-dipping greed, but your euphoria will not last. Harmon's house of cards is about to collapse.
