NORTHERN LIGHT ABETTING FRAUD
The May 13, 2026 Northern Light article on the Creekside Planned Unit Development omits any mention of the May 7, 2026 ruling by the Washington State Chief Health Law Judge to review the Water Planning Matters petition for a declaratory order to protect the Critical Aquifer Recharge Area for Blaine's public water system that would be contaminated by the Creekside PUD.
In the November 2025 election, Blaine voters expressed a strong interest in protecting the east Blaine aquifer that provides drinking water to the 17,000 residents of Blaine and Birch Bay. Thanks to The Northern Light coverup, Blaine voters were at the time unaware that the de-annexation direct mail campaign that delivered slick flyers to their mailboxes was paid for by the developer who colluded with the Blaine hearing examiner to exclude Washington Department of Ecology concerns for aquifers and wetlands, as well as to remove climate science evidence from the public record. Altering (or Injury to) the Public Record is a felony.
Whatcom County Boundary Review Board and the Whatcom County Health Department have a responsibility to protect the Blaine Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas from irresponsible development that threatens public health. In the complete absence of leadership from the Whatcom County Council on protecting public water systems and water resources, Health Department intervention is vital.
Despite The Northern Light coverup of former Blaine City Councilman Mike Hill's self-dealing crimes, he ended up publicly humiliated by his November 12, 2024 CCTV performance at city hall, accosting Water Planning Matters spokesman Otto Pointer, that everyone in town watched on their cell phone, leading to his resignation. Blaine Planning Commissioner Sam Randhawa followed suit in 2025 when he was publicly humiliated for voting on zoning changes that financially benefitted him.
On March 9, 2026, Councilwoman Sarbjit Bains committed self-dealing by voting on Central Business District rezones that increased the value of her and her husband's commercial properties, with the blessing of Blaine City Manager Mike Harmon. The Northern Light never said a word.
