PLEASURE ISLAND

April 2 letter to Blaine City Manager:

These intoxicating days when it seems you are above the law--bestowing special privileges on a Canadian developer and Councilwoman Sarbjit Bains, and violating the civil rights of Blaine citizens holding you accountable--will soon come crashing down around you as prosecutions of Blaine officials involved in self-dealing get under way.

Watching the seven members of Blaine City Council you misled into your criminal enterprise at city hall reminds me of the Disney film Pinocchio, in particular Pleasure Island, that is disguised as a haven for freedom and anarchy for children, but is eventually discovered to be far more sinister.

To its unsuspecting visitors like Pinocchio, Pleasure Island appears to be a fantastic haven for wayward children to do whatever they want with no consequences or law; to act as they please without fear of punishment. As Pinocchio's eventual captor remarks, "Give a bad boy enough rope and he'll soon make a jackass of himself!"

This communication is a good-faith public-interest statement submitted by an individual citizen concerning potential violations of state law by City of Blaine officials. It is intended to invoke the lawful oversight authority of the named receiving agencies. The allegations herein are alleged and unproven as a matter of law. All named individuals are presumed innocent of any wrongdoing unless and until adjudicated otherwise.
