CIVIC REFORM

2025 was a turbulent year in the City of Blaine, as perjury, self-dealing, and felony fraud by Blaine officials was exposed, culminating in death threats against citizens holding city hall accountable. 

As city officials fast-tracked unlawful developments and hid vital public records from the public, Washington Coalition for Open Government weighed in against Mayor Steward for demonizing citizens exercising their right to know. When the mayor's friend threatened her political opponents, Whatcom District Court Judge Angela Anderson issued restraining orders and surrender of firearms by the convicted violent felon the mayor 'liked' on his Facebook death threat video.

As we look ahead, the mayor's super majority on the council means that official fraud and thuggery will likely increase. Curtailing this civic nightmare that includes police intimidation and defamation of the mayor's opponents is priority number one for those few who care about water, sewer, and electric rate increases, sewage pollution of Drayton Harbor, and public officials lining their own pockets at our expense. Coming together to discuss civic reform is essential.

Letter to County Prosecutor

To Mr. Eric J. Richey, Whatcom Prosecuting Attorney, 311 Grand, Ste. 201, Bellingham WA 98225 I write to you as Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney in hope you will protect the rights of the people of Blaine from a city government that--due to embedded corruption--is unable to effectively govern and is putting our health and prosperity at risk by their unlawful acts. GUEST COMMENTARY REJECTED BY CASCADIA DAILY NEWS

The CDN article about the  East Blaine de-annexation  and UGA Swap excludes any mention of the extensively documented Blaine Water Coalition objections we sent to CDN well in advance. I feel this is not fair and balanced coverage. CDN reporter Julia Tellman attended the July 14, 2025 Blaine City Council meeting where as a city council vacancy applicant I introduced myself as a member of the Blaine Water Coalition (BWC) speakers bureau, and provided both an oral and written presentation with alleged legal violations by the city related to the proposed UGA Swap, as well as BWC's legal objections to previous well-documented evidence of City misconduct.
