Scott Meaker Corrupt

In March, 2018, The Northern Light ran an article about plans for Mike Hill's Starbucks on Peace Portal Drive downtown, in which it is noted that the new lighthouse building was designed by Scott Meaker of Northwest Commercial Construction. 

In January 2023, The Northern Light covered the new Downtown Advisory Committee, which included Scott Meaker. The committee, appointed by Blaine City Council--including Mike Hill--was a key but corrupt part of the city plan to make recommendations for zoning amendments in the Central Business District.

At the June 6, 2023, Downtown Advisory Committee meeting, Scott Meaker voted to reduce minimum parking requirements and to increase building height limits for downtown developers. This was a direct financial conflict of interest that benefited both Meaker and Councilman Hill. 

Councilman Hill later voted to approve both ordinances in violation of Blaine City Council Rules of Procedure and state law regarding conflicts of interest by public officials. This is also known as 'self-dealing' which is a crime.

In July 2023, Meaker was noted by The Northern Light as having developed Hill's Chevron.

On May 13, 2025, Scott Meaker vandalized Horseshoe Antiques and accosted owner Bill Becht for displaying a sign in his window saying "Arrest Corrupt Blaine Officials, Hill No!" Blaine City Police filled out a report, which has just been removed from the city website

1/30/25 letter to City of Blaine : BLAINE'S SHAME CCTV of Blaine City Council member Mike Hill accosting community activist Otto Pointer at the November 13, 2024, council meeting.
