Pollution Priority

6/1/25 letter to city:

While the City of Blaine has prioritized facilitating luxury housing, it is slowly dawning on Blaine citizens that cleaning up pollution that threatens Drayton Harbor Oyster Company and Lummi Nation natural resources is a more pressing priority. The groundwater contamination from Hill's Chevron combined with the toxins leaching into Drayton Harbor and Semiahmoo Bay from the garbage landfill under Marine Park are important to remediate. Unfortunately, the city is focused on facilitating condominiums and a shopping center on the shoreline that violate state-required setbacks.

1/30/25 letter to City of Blaine : BLAINE'S SHAME CCTV of Blaine City Council member Mike Hill accosting community activist Otto Pointer at the November 13, 2024, council meeting. Mike Hill, owner of Starbuck's and Chevron, as well as a downtown and CARA developer, has not recused himself when voting on zoning amendments to the Blaine Municipal Code that financially benefit him.
