Follow up on Letter to AG re Gurdeep Bains
The token inclusion in downtown planning of a representative from a "neighboring community group" does not even begin to satisfy the public participation requirement under GMA. Public participation includes all citizens of Blaine, not a single member of a neighboring community group. Salishan Neighborhood Association was represented, but Salishan only represents a small fraction of the population.
The recommendations by downtown developers were solicited and railroaded by Blaine Community Development Services prior to seeking input from the community at large. They were then approved by Blaine Planning Commission and Blaine City Council with no public vision. This is contrary to the essence of GMA.
